The Art of Twitter for Business

Twitter profile design by Codastar

Twitter is about brevity, so your profile needs to be able to sum you up quickly. It’s obviously another place to get your branding seen – with a profile picture and a banner – and we will work with a client to decide on whatever imagery or information they want to include to make the most of the space. Then it’s a case of introducing the firm in very brief, evocative text, including the right keywords to make sure the company appears in relevant users’ search results. Adding the firm’s location, if applicable, is also vital for this reason.

Twitter offers paid advertising options that can be very specifically keyword and audience targeted, making the most of your advertising budget. You can create adverts from scratch or promote your best tweets.

Why Google +?

Google + is all about getting on side with Google. Probably the most important thing about setting up a business page is the effect this will have on your company’s search rankings in Google.

Also, Google + is now needed for Google Local searches, so that your business appears in the relevant search results for people looking up nearby services. You are making sure your business’s details turn up in peoples’ search results – where you are, your opening times, your contact details. This also links to Google Maps, which is important if you have a premises or showroom people can go to.

As a product, a bottle of wine looks good, aesthetically pleasing. The wine’s colour and label design really give people a feel for the contents. Subconsciously they tell a story about the winemaker and the market/lifestyle they’re selling to.

This is why when wine producer Immersus Emergo came to us for a website we decided on a similar look. Good design makes use of contrast to make content stand out, and the look of a bottle of red with a light coloured label provides a perfect way to highlight Immersus’s products. It’s also a very neat way to separate the information on each page of the site.

Codastar offer a Social Media Package because we feel a company’s online presence is most effective when there are as many profiles set up and active as possible. Each platform a company appears on is another place to be found by visitors who might not have visited the dedicated company website. Having more places to list a company’s contact details, products and updates greatly increases both their visibility and opportunities for prospects to contact the firm or generate sales.

So… Facebook.

With such a big audience it is still very important that you can be found on here (because you will be). The opportunities for efficiently-targeted paid advertising are also formidable (it’s a platform that really knows the audience’s preferences and interests).

What makes Facebook a must for business isn’t so much the updates, timeline and likes on the company page (you might even have heard that it isn’t as good as it used to be for ‘organic reach’). What is important is that you can add tabs to your page, presenting everything your own website does and giving prospects the opportunities to buy, sign up, download, engage…

Tabs are extra pages (Facebook call them tabs so they aren’t confused with the overall name ‘Company Page’). Visitors can easily find them from the Facebook timeline using the navigation bar. We also provide bespoke buttons that can go beside the timeline.

Pay-per-click advertising is a formidable tool for getting your business and products to appear in users’ search results. Firms spend thousands of pounds a month on running these campaigns – they’re that valuable for generating business.

That is, they’re that valuable if they’re effective.

An awful lot of PPC campaigns fail because the company sets up PPC adverts that take users to either the company homepage or another unspecific page which does not address what users have seen in the advert. A firm can lose a lot of customers if they don’t have the goods to show people who’ve clicked on their ads.

Enter: the pay-per-click landing page. A bespoke page that exists solely to tell users about the promotion/call-to-action (buy now, register, make contact, etc.) featured in the advert, maximising conversion.
